Scotland and the United Kingdom Will Provide 3.5 million pounds for Bansos Gaza

Scotland - The Scottish Government will provide funding for 500,000 pounds of humanitarian aid in Gaza. Funds will be taken from the budget of the national social aid fund.

As reported by BBC.com, Thursday (31/7), External Affairs Minister Humza Yousaf Scotland mention the money would be allocated for the provision of sewerage, food, home, and medical assistance. It is given because it has more than 1,300 people were killed (mostly civilians) as a result of the Israeli invasion against Hamas militants.

Yousaf also hope that the international community helped provide assistance such as Scotland. But the most important thing is making efforts to encourage reconciliation in order not to fall victim more and more.

"Increasing violence in Gaza has led to too many lives are lost and people will get hurt," said Yousaf.

He said the United Nations has called for both sides to a truce. But according to Yousaf there are still things that need to be straightened.

"The rocket attack by militants in Gaza is wrong, and should stop. Yet the Israeli response has been hugely disproportionate as indicated by the loss of life and civil society this can not be replaced," said Yousaf.

In the midst of a prolonged crisis in Gaza, apparently assessed humanitarian aid decreased. That is why Scotland poured funds intended for social aid.

"There is also evidence that the improvement of the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate and that is why the Scottish Government provided funding of 500,000 pounds to help the UN provide water, food, shelter and medical help needed people in Gaza," said Yousaf.

While the United Kingdom will also be adding the grant of 3 million pounds. Thus the total assistance to be provided to 3.5 million pounds.
