Hamas denies Israeli soldier kidnapped

Alleged kidnapping and violence that ensued ended a ceasefire which went into effect for several hours.
 

Hamas said they did not know the existence of the Israeli soldier captured in Gaza suspected.

In a statement, the military wing of Hamas, the Qassam Brigades said they had lost contact with a number of fighters in that location.

The fighters and the Israeli army also called Hadar Goldin, 23, may have been killed.

"We believe they (the fighters) have been killed since the bombing (by Israel)."

"Assuming that they caught the soldier in battle, we judge that he was also killed in the incident," said a statement from the Qassam.

Alleged kidnapping and violence that ensued ended a ceasefire which went into effect for several hours.

Earlier, President Barack Obama described the crisis as "heartbreaking" and said it would seek to another ceasefire.

"Innocent civilians trapped in the conflict has been weighing on our conscience," he said, but he added that Hamas had to show serious intent to end the violence.

Israeli air strikes continued until Saturday (02/08) morning and Gaza officials say nearly 100 Palestinians have been killed in the latest attack.

Since July 8, about 1,600 Palestinians, the majority civilians, have been killed and 8,400 wounded. While 61 soldiers and three Israeli civilians also died in the world.
