Russia accused the United States violated arms control agreement

 
Barack Obama spoke to leaders of the European Union on Monday (29/07).

Russia has violated the importance of arms control agreements with the testing of nuclear cruise missiles, the United States government.

The cruise missile tests, according to the United States, in violation of the Agreement for the Use of Nuclear Weapons Distance Medium (INF) signed in 1987 during the cold war.

Senior officials of the United States did not provide further details about the alleged offense, but describing it as "very serious".

"We have been trying to resolve this issue with Russia," said the official who was not named in a statement.

President Barack Obama has also reportedly sent a letter to the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

The BBC is still awaiting a formal response to the Russian government over allegations the United States.

This is the first time the United States has accused Russia openly, even though this issue has been heard for years, says the BBC's Paul Blake in Washington DC.

The agreement signed by the end of the Cold War by Mikhail Gorbachev and Ronald Reagan.

Bilateral agreements agreed by Mikhail Gorbachev and Ronald Reagan 27 years ago that prohibits both sides using missiles with a range of 500 and 5,500 kilometers.

The United States claims is disclosed along with an atmosphere of tension between the two parties related to the conflict in Ukraine.

Russia criticized the United States engaged in a never-ending conflict in Ukraine and Russia accuses responsible for Malaysia Airlines MH17 crash which killed hundreds of people.

Along with this accusation leveled, Obama on Monday (29/07) speaks with European Union leaders agreed to impose sanctions on Russia for its continued role in the Ukrainian crisis.

It is estimated that new measures will be far more impact than previous sanctions and will target Russian banks, as well as the defense and energy sectors.

Full details will be finalized at a meeting of EU ambassadors on Tuesday (07.30).
