US-related increase sanctions against Russia Ukraine

United States President Barack Obama announced new economic sanctions against Russia, saying the move would "weaken the already weak Russian economy".

He said the coordinated action of the United States and the European Union will click "more damaging" the Russian economy.

The new restrictions include prohibiting American citizens or people in the United States to conduct banking activities with three Russian banks.

The move is aimed at increasing the costs to be incurred Russia because Russia continues to support rebel supporter in eastern Ukraine.

Moscow denies accusations of the EU and the United States that Russia supplying heavy weapons to the rebels.

Speaking at the White House, Obama said the United States expanding sanctions to target key sectors of the Russian economy such as energy, financial and armaments.

"If the Russians continue their current policy, Russia's costs will continue to rise," Obama said.

Treasury Ministry expressed banks targeted sanctions at this stage is VTB, the Russian Agricultural Bank (Rosselkhozbank) and the Bank of Moscow.
