Drogba Resigned from the International Stage

Didier Drogba scored 61 goals in 103 matches besama Ivory Coast.

Football star from the Ivory Coast, Didier Drogba, Announced retreat from international football.

36-year-old striker was dropped 103 times in strengthening the Ivory Coast - among others in three World Cups and two African-Cup and scored 61 goals.

"With great sadness I decided to retire from international football," as written in a statement on its website.

He says he is proud to provide assistance in bringing his country to the world stage.

"Since it was first called up to the last game, I always strive to provide the best for my country."

Off the pitch, Drogba had a role in the campaign to end the civil war in Ivory Coast and called for reconciliation after the conflict.

As a football player, his goal extra time and penalty shoot-out which leads Chelsea win the Champions Cup  for the first time in the 2011-2012 season.

After leaving Chelsea, he could play in China before moving to Turkish club, Galatasaray, and back to Chelsea this season to a one-year contract.

Drogba also been elected twice as Africa's best football players.
