Offer some clubs for Thomas Vermaelen

Thomas Vermaelen joined Arsenal in 2009 from Ajax.

Arsene Wenger says Arsenal have received offers from several clubs to captain Thomas Vermaelen and Manchester United one of them.

Wenger is not willing to discuss the details of the offer but said it would prefer if Vermaelen moved to clubs outside the UK.

When asked if Manchester United is one of the bidders, Wenger replied, "I think they go in it."

Wenger says Vermaelen-which previously went to the Belgian national team's World Cup Brasil may leave the north London club.

Joined from Ajax in June 2009, Vermaelen become an important player in the Arsenal rearguard and yet only 14 times playing in the Premier League Click on the last of the season due to injury.

"He could go, it might happen. Preseason I said from the beginning," said Wenger ahead of the Community Shield match against Manchester City, Sunday, August 10.

"Ideally, yes, we want to let him go abroad and it is our choice."
