Ceasefire between Israel and Hamas agreed on Monday evening, August 4, 2014, in Cairo, Egypt, and is applicable on Tuesday from 08:00 local time. This deal is similar unconditional ceasefire proposal failed earlier in the conflict that has killed nearly 2,000 people, mostly Palestinians.

In talks in Cairo, Israel did not send representatives. But a spokesman for the Israeli defense forces, Lt. Col. Peter Lerner, said Israel would abide by the truce and will withdraw all its troops from Gaza began at 08.00.
"Israel will continue to maintain a defensive position of the air, beaches, and land, but outside the Gaza Strip," Lerner said, as reported by the Washington Post, Tuesday, August 5, 2014.

Hamas representatives in the talks in Cairo, Ezzat al Reshek, said they would abide by a cease-fire and ready to start indirect negotiations regarding the new requirements for a longer truce. Ceasefire agreement the two sides apparently reached after both reducing their attack. Hamas rockets had been reduced in the last few days, and Israel has attracted most of its troops from the Gaza Strip on Sunday yesterday.

Lerner said that Hamas still has thousands of rockets, even has shot more than 3,300 times to Israel. So far, about 3,000 people are believed to be victims of Israeli military operations soldiers, with 4,800 attacks on the Gaza Strip. Israel also claims to have destroyed the underground tunnel that connects Israel and Gaza, of a total of 32 tunnels.

Palestinian officials said the conflict has killed at least 1,865 people, including hundreds of women and children. While Lerner said Israel believes Hamas militants and 67 900 Israelis, mostly soldiers, were killed in the fighting.
