There Crossfire in Location MH17, Victim Search Stalled


Donetsk - The situation around the crash site on Malaysia Airlines (MAS) MH17 getting worse, due to clashes between separatists and government forces in Ukraine. These conditions make the investigators frustrated to find the remains and belongings of the victims.

The combined team of investigators from Australia, the Netherlands, and Malaysia visited the crash site was delayed, because access is limited. Due to the increasing gunfire in the nearby area on Monday, August 4.

Australian special envoy, Angus Houston sure that all shots from far to the convoy was actually directed to the west. Although the sound of gunfire was heard quite close to the investigation team.

Houston said, the situation on the ground continuously monitored. While investigators continue to carry out its mission.

"We will stay here as long as possible, if a conflict that allows us to search," said Houston told ABC radio on Tuesday (05/08/2014).

"If there is any doubt we would stop, as we do today," said Houston.

Three days earlier on August 2 at the crash site MH17, human bodies and personal belongings of victims was found. But the Australian Federal Police did not mention similar findings in a fourth day.

Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe so far has also been seeking assurances from both sides of the conflict, that the investigation team was given the freedom to safely crash site. But there has been no response from both sides.

Two weeks on Malaysia Airlines passenger plane has been shot down over eastern Ukraine. 298 People on board were killed, including 38 Australian citizens and residents.
